Objectives
The aims of our project are to:
- develop new compounds with anticancer potential;
- fit the nature of the substituents onto the starting materials in certain cases in order to reinforce the metabolic stability of final compounds;
- measure the inhibitory activity of new compounds on human farnesyltransferase;
- measure the inhibitory activity of new compounds on tubulin polymerization;
- develop original syntheses for target compounds;
- evaluate the anticancer potential of synthesized compounds;
- establish structure-activity relationships for resulting anticancer agents;
- create a real opportunity for the project leader to obtain a stable professional position in a research unit in Romania;
- continue working with research teams from abroad, especially in the field of medicinal chemistry, in order to produce visible results at international level.
Estimated results:
- Obtaining new potential anticancer molecules in vitro with a known mode of action, the aim being to select the best candidates for further evaluation in vivo.
- Publication of at least four articles in international journals with impact factor> 2, which will give to the project manager and his team increased international visibility in the field.
- The research findings will be presented annually to an international congress.
