{"id":39,"count":1,"description":"Our research interests started in the area of heterocyclic chemistry, an area of immense importance, given that heterocyclic molecules account for over half of all known compounds.\r\n\r\nMany classes of important natural products, as well as a large majority of synthetic drugs, agrochemicals, dyes etc. contain heterocyclic rings, and therefore the development of new synthetic routes to such compounds is of great scientific and commercial importance.\r\n\r\nWithin this broad area, two themes are apparent in our work: firstly, the development of useful new reactions for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds, and in particular reactions involving reactive species such as cycloimmoniu ylides, and secondly the work on the synthesis of heterocycles biologically active and with other applications: semiconductors, insecticides, grow up factors etc.\r\n\r\nThese efforts are designed to produce new synthetic methodology, expanding the basic body of knowledge for designing organic syntheses and understanding chemical reactions, so as to allow formation of complex arrangements of stereochemistry and polyfunctionality.\r\n\r\nAs far as for compounds of pharmacological significance, present studies are directed toward new agents for treatment of tuberculosis, neoplastic diseases, antimicrobials, etc. As far for organic semiconductors the research include obtaining of polysilanes with heterocycles skeleton, including ylidic skeleton.
