Career
Born in 1964, Prof. Ionel I. Mangalagiu graduated in 1990 the Chemical Technological Faculty, the Department CHEMISTRY- PHYSICS, at the Politechnical Institute, Iasi, Romania, being Bachelor in Chemistry and Physics. In the same year, 1990, he became anď assisting professor, to the Organic Chemistry Department, “Al.I.Cuza” University Iasi; in 1995 he was promoted as lecturer (exam) at the same department.
In 1996 he took his Doctor’s Degree in Organic Chemistry under the supervision Prof.dr.doc. MAGDA PETROVANU investigating the synthesis, reactions and practical applications of diazinium ylides. After that he began to establish an independent research career in the fields of nitrogen heterocyles.
In 1997 he became an associate professor and in 2000 he was appointed Professor of Organic Chemistry to “Al.I.Cuza” University Iasi.
His work has been recognised with several awards including a NATO Fellowship (1998).
